You can expect an email within an hour of submitting your application. The email will request additional information or provide you with a quote, if your event parameters satisfy our program requirements.

No. We provide coverage on a per event basis and cannot cover events that are longer than 30 days.

No, our program does not allow us to cover overnight events.

Unfortunately, no. The policy will not cover any losses, directly or indirectly, due to the Coronavirus. Remember, this policy covers any unexpected losses with the exception of happenings known to the insured prior to purchasing the insurance and a few exclusions listed in the policy. Check out the cancellation and postponement policies at the bottom of this page for specific policy wording.

We are sorry! Our program only covers events within the United States.

For Special Event Liability, the pricing is not based on whether the event is inside or outside.

For Event Cancellation, the pricing is based on whether the event is inside or outside.

Our insurance policy includes host liquor at no additional cost. We do not recommend you remove the host liquor coverage because it is already built into the premium. 

If there is an invite list, use that total. If not, use your best judgment to determine the total number of people that will be in attendance. 

If you have a multiple day event, then you will want to use the total number of attendees.  For example, a two-day event in which you expect 100 people per day would require coverage for 200 people.

Yes, you can add Additional Insureds in section 3 of the application. However, Additional Insureds must be a venue manager or municipality. For Vendor Liability Insurance, you can add the event host/organizer, as well.

There is no limit on how many additional insureds you can add to your policy; however, additional insureds must be a venue manager and/or municipality. For Vendor Liability Insurance, you can add the event host/organizer.

No, event hosts cannot add their vendors as an additional insured. Vendors require their own insurance policies, separate from the event holder. Therefore, we suggest signing a “hold harmless” agreement with your vendors so that you are not legally responsible for any of their mishaps. In addition, you can consult a licensed attorney for advice in this regard. 

Absolutely. You will need their card number and expiration date in order to bind.

No, we only accept credit or debit card payment in order to bind coverage. That way you can receive the certificate of insurance (COI) immediately and can check this off your to do list.

The online purchasing option is there for your convenience. If you would prefer to secure your coverage over the phone, you can certainly do that; however, you will need to be near your email to confirm the terms and conditions of the policy and to input your payment information.

Eligibility Questions

No. Unfortunately, we cannot cover events held at locations not designed and regulated to host events. That means we cannot cover events held at private residences (i.e. a friend’s house, back yard, etc.).

Yes! You can have sparklers and candles at your event. Under “Does your event feature any of the following?” on the application, it states that both are okay. Please select “No” for that particular eligibility question.

If the attendees are participating in the water activities, then we are unable to cover the event.

No. Unfortunately, we are unable to cover events with fire pits, even if the venue is responsible and monitoring the pit. 

Definition Questions

Host Liquor means you plan on giving away alcohol (or BYOB) at your event. No required liquor license for the event and your profession does not involve selling, serving or furnishing alcohol.

Retail Liquor, on the other hand, a professional bartender is selling alcohol at your event or your profession involves selling, serving or furnishing alcohol. In addition, alcohol receipts must be under $20,000.

Medical Payments is “no fault coverage” and will help avoid a lawsuit. This coverage item will pay the injured person’s medical bill up to the coverage limit regardless of who is at fault. 

Medical expenses are covered (subject to coverage terms) under the general liability, each occurrence limit (i.e. $1,000,000). It covers you, the insured, for any 3rd party medical expenses that result from your negligence.

Damage to Rented Premises (Damage to Premises Rented to You) used to be known as fire legal liability. The fire damage coverage that is provided under Damage to Premises Rented to You applies only if you are legally liable for the damage.

Property damage expenses are covered (subject to coverage terms) under the general liability, each occurrence limit (i.e. $1,000,000). It covers you, the insured, for 3rd party property damages that result from your negligence.

Waiver of Subrogation waives the right of recovery against the venue owner in regards to damages or injuries. You do not need to add this to a policy unless required by your venue. 

Primary and Non-Contributory wording states that the insured’s policy will act as the only policy to pay for a claim until this policy has reached the limit. If the claim reaches the limit on this policy, then the venue’s primary policy will kick in. You do not need to add this to a policy unless required by your venue.

What If...

No problem, you can make changes to your coverage by clicking the “MANAGE POLICY” button in your policy email. Or you can login to your policy here. Once you log into your policy, click on “Make A Change” and follow the prompts to adjust your coverage. All changes must be made at least 1 day prior to the scheduled event start date.

If you have any questions, please reply to any email sent from us or send us a message on the Contact Us page with a detailed description of the changes needed for your policy. All policy changes are subject to a change in premium.

You can cancel your special event liability policy by clicking the “MANAGE POLICY” button in your policy email. Or you can go to the Pricing Calculator on our homepage and click on “MANAGE POLICY”. Once you log in, click on “Make a Change” and follow the prompts to cancel your coverage. All policy cancellations must be made at least 1 day prior to the scheduled event start date. You will receive a refund less the policy fee, as explained when binding coverage.  Please note that event cancellation policies are Non-Cancellable.

Event Insurance Glossary

  • Additional Insured

    A person or organization other than the Named Insured that is protected by the insurance policy in addition to the Named Insured.

  • Deductible

    An initial amount of money that must be paid by the insured before the insurer will cover the claim. Remember, our policies have ZERO deductible.

  • Endorsement

    A change to the original insurance policy. This can include the entities insured, the dates of the event, the number ofattendees, the coverage limits, etc..

  • Host Liquor Liability

    This protects you and/or your business against claims or suits that arise from the incidental selling or serving of alcoholic beverages. It is designed to cover your liability as a social host. It is not intended for bars, nightclubs, and other establishments that are in the business of selling liquor.

  • Named Insured

    A person or organization designated by name as being covered under the insurance policy. This is the host of the event or an event vendor taking out the policy.

  • Premium

    An amount to be paid for an insurance policy.

  • Replacement Cost

    The current value of an insured item in the event it were to be replaced due to loss or damage.

  • Waiver of Subrogation

    An agreement restricting the transfer of legal responsibility to a third party. Venues will often ask the named insured to obtain a waiver of subrogation, relieving the venue of legal responsibility.
